Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot is a brand new Wolfenstein VR game and it is supposed to be released this year. The plot of this game is set 20 years after the events that occurred in The New Colossus. It happens during the Word War II and Adolf Hitler’s rule as Chancellor of Germany. In this game, a player takes on a role of a hacker that works for the French Resistance. It takes place chronologically around the same time as Youngblood, albeit separate, serving as a side story to the main narrative.  He takes the control of different Nazi robots and his goal is to turn them against the people that created them in the first place.

Wolfenstein: Cyberpilot is special since it is the first game that is created specifically for VR platform and the experience is rail-free. This allows the person who is playing it to experience and enjoy the freedom that he would expect of a first-person shooter. The game was first announced at Bethesda’s E3 2018 press conference, along with a Prey VR adaptation, and new Elder Scrolls game that will feature VR support.

For all of you who aren’t familiar with this franchise yet, Wolfenstein is a series of World War II-themed video games that was created by Muse Software. Most of the people believe that Wolfenstein is so popular is because of its ability to mix over-the-top action and violence with thoughtful, gut-punching narrative representations of a twisted alternate reality in which the Nazi regime is in power. It’s not just a simple shooter full of action and blood, like Serious Sam for example, instead it manages to juggle multiple tones very well. Most of the games follow protagonist William “B.J.” Blazkowicz, who is a Jewish Polish-American Army Sergeant and his fights against the Nazi powers. Earlier titles are centered around Nazis attempting to harness supernatural and occult forces. The New Order and its sequel The New Colossus are set in an alternate history in which the Axis powers won the Second World War. After the release of Castle Wolfenstein in 1982, ten more titles were released. These include: Beyond Castle Wolfenstein, Wolfenstein 3D, Wolfenstein 3D: The Spear of Destiny, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, Wolfenstein RPG, Wolfenstein, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Wolfenstein: The Old Blood and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus. They have all been published as games of the Wolfenstein series by M.U.S.E. Inc.
